Fusion Communications Corporation and Softfront announced on November 28 an alliance in the field of
software applications for IP telephony. Softfront thus becomes the first company to participate as an
application partner in the Fusion Service Partner Alliance, as previously announced by Fusion. Softfront
will sell its KISARA Application Development Kit, a library for developing SIP applications, to other
application partners of Fusion.
The KISARA Application Development Kit library enables users to easily develop SIP applications. With
this product, users can develop and add telephone and other real-time communications functions to existing
Internet applications and services.
The kit has already been verified for connection with the FUSION IP-Phone VoIP (Voice over IP) network.
No testing at the signaling level is therefore necessary when alliance partners use this kit. This facilitates
the development of terminals and applications with value-added services for use with FUSION IP-Phone,
without worrying about complex VoIP network connectivity, allowing partners to concentrate on developing
applications leveraging their expertise. It will make possible the addition of communications functions
using FUSION IP-Phone to a broad range of systems, from e-learning using videophones, to electronic medical
charts and remote medical care services that effectively use voice communication in the healthcare domain,
and a variety of systems for real estate agents, tax accountants and lawyers.
The KISARA Application Development Kit also shortens the time required to develop high value-added communications
software that uses FUSION IP-Phone. This is expected to spur an increase in the number of FUSION IP-Phone
application partners and users of the FUSION IP-Phone service, which will be increasingly differentiated
from the services provided by other companies.
Fusion and Softfront intend to continue their cooperation and business tie-ups in the field of IP telephony
applications.
