Fusion Begins First IP-Phone-to-Mobile-Phone Service
Fusion Communications Corporation began providing its "FUSION IP-Phone" commercial
service on February 1, offering phone services for calls to fixed-line telephones in Japan and overseas.
Fusion now offers calls to mobile phones in Japan, a phone service for which notification was submitted on
May 22 to the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications.
At present, the price-setting rights for IP-phone-to-mobile-phone calls within Japan
are being reviewed by the Ministry, so Fusion remains unable to set prices or provide services for calls
made from its IP phone network through an exchange to the mobile phones of mobile phone operators.
For this reason, Fusion is offering the IP-phone-to-mobile-phone calls as part of
its international IP toll bypass telephone service. Now, in addition to the rate of 8 yen for 3 minutes to
fixed-line telephones in Japan, FUSION IP-Phone offers low-cost rates for IP toll bypass calls to mobile
phones in Japan, providing customers with more convenience than ever.
How the Service Works
Fusion is able to provide telephone service for calls made to mobile phones in
Japan that originate in the FUSION IP-Phone network by setting the call originator to an "overseas" location.
This allows the call to be routed through FUSION IP-Phone's international telephone service.
