ACCA Networks Co., Ltd
Fusion Communications Corp.

Fusions Works with ACCA Networks to Test VoIP Applications
as Part of WiMax Verification Testing

In verification testing of the new wireless broadband candidate standard IEEE 802.16e (commonly known as Mobile WiMax*), ACCA Networks has turned to Fusion Communications Corporation for the testing of VoIP applications.

ACCA is currently preparing to conduct technical testing on WiMax, a strong candidate which Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is studying for frequency allocation in the 2.5 GHz band.
The testing will encompass a confirmation of the basic characteristics of WiMax as a wireless technology as well as the verification testing of applications. The testing of VoIP applications is one such area, for which ACCA decided to enlist the cooperation of Fusion because of Fusion's expertise and business know-how in the area.

The testing will take place from June to August, and will focus on confirming throughput, coverage, handover, and other wireless characteristics. Subsequently, VoIP, video streaming and other applications will be tested. In the verification testing being performed with Fusion, the goal is to verify to what extent VoIP telephone service over WiMax can be achieved from a technical standpoint, covering such issues as voice quality and connectivity when on the move, including delay and throughput. VoIP telephone service is widely used now over fixed lines. If a wireless broadband access technology such as WiMax were able to offer seamless service, it would usher in a new age of fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) in voice services.

ACCA plans to proceed aggressively with the verification testing of many types of applications for WiMax in conjunction with many partners to prepare an open environment premised upon its becoming a virtual network operator, which is a provider of telecommunications services using the infrastructure of other companies. Partners the company is likely to seek include content providers/broadcasters, entertainment terminal suppliers, ISPs, and other companies that offer IT solutions. The company plans to carry out testing with a wide range of companies to determine the specifics of how WiMax can be put to use and what potential it holds.

As a communication services company, ACCA is looking to catch the wave that is about to hit the market, and through the use of WiMax technology actively provide broadband services to further meet users' needs and improve customer satisfaction.

*Mobile WiMax: Also known as "Mobile WirelessMAN," this is a promising technology for next-generation high-speed wireless communication access, standardized as IEEE 802.16e, offering better cost performance than existing 3G and 3.5G wireless technologies. At present, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications considers it a leading candidate for frequency allocation in the 2.5 GHz band among next-generation wireless access technologies.
